Johnny L. Watson, Jr. was born on July 30, 1964, to the late Johnny L. Watson, Sr. and his mother, Betty R. Watson. Together, they raised their son the best way they knew how during that era. Johnny Jr. was born in Charlotte, NC, but shortly after his birth, his parents moved him to New York (Harlem), New Jersey (Jersey City), Chicago, and Detroit, MI. While living in these cities, they taught him at a very early age how to survive in the streets; without this knowledge, he would have been able to make it. His mother recognized early on that Johnny Jr. was a gifted child—she knew he was a fighter who would never give up on anything.
From a young age, Johnny Jr. was gifted and taught himself how to draw. His determination to learn to draw was strong, even though his father was a gifted artist as well. He simply picked up a pencil and started creating. Although he lost his ability to draw as he got older, his desire to create remained, leading him to turn to writing. He began with poetry and later started writing a journal about his life, never realizing that one this journal, titled "The Scream That No One Heard," would be transformed into a web series, and potentially a movie.
Now, at the young age of 60, he has not only written his journal, "The Scream That No One Heard," but he has also served as a ghostwriter for three other books and four children's books. He has long been an advocate against bullying, which is reflected in his children's books. "The Adventures of Whiskas" tells the story of a mouse who is different from the others, while "Cilley Is Alive," which complements "The Adventures of Whiskas," explores true friendship. "Denmark: The Trilogy of Whiskas Continues" follows friends on an adventure to discover another culture, and "The Wedding" depicts the merging of two families into one. Mr. Watson has several more books awaiting publication. Additionally, he has become a business owner and a pastor. All these accomplishments were achieved by a man who once went to prison and was told he would never amount to anything. What a great testament to the fact that you can overcome anything you your mind to.
